Kratom (Mitragyna Speciosa) is a close relative of coffee. Consumed in small amounts, either in powder form or as a tea, it acts as a stimulant, providing energy and mild euphoria. In higher doses it acts as a sedative. Kratom is an opioid, not an opiate. This means, that it works on the same receptors as stronger opiates, but doesn't have nearly the same addictive properties as stronger opiates. It is also possible to use kratom to prevent cold turkey and taper off stronger opiates, although Iboga is best for this. Red Vein Thai is one of the most sedating strains. Red strains are more sedative, white and green strains more energizing. Kratom can be added to a pan of water, boiled for 30-40 minutes, then strained, add honey, and drunk, for 5-7 hours worth of effects, a great way to chill to a couple of movies on an evening in.
